Our Story
Flip-Flop and Feed began as a simple family project. Anita and Vera lived in the Philippines from 2004-2008 and moved back to the US in the summer of 2008. Every year they visited the Philippines, Anita gave school supplies to a local school in her home city, Digos City, Philippines. Her daughter Vera became inspired and continually worked with children, and eventually dreamed of somehow helping Filipino children in impoverished communities, or those who were completely alone on the streets. In 2016, they officially named their family project Flip-Flop and Feed, aiming to give school supplies, food, and new flip-flops to children annually.
The flip-flops are given as they are a popular choice of footwear as they are cheap and comfortable. Many children living in impoverished communities also often walk to school, with simple flip-flops on their feet.
The school supplies are part of FFF's mission to break the cycle of poverty through the belief that education is an important tool to escape poverty, as long as one is given the resources.
